Student Discount - Ireland

Hi I was just wondering does anyone know about the student discount?

And if so does it apply to purchases made in Ireland.

At the start of the year my friend purchased a MacBook Pro through a certified retailer in Ireland, but got a discount online from apple to use in-store.

I was on the education section, but can't seem to find anything there.

I went to purchase through the education section of the site, but the price was still the same as the normal site.
